H1N1 - Stay healthy – stay training!
by Cathy Haines

The winter indoor training and competitive season is here! Athletes are often busy people, balancing training and competition with school, work, family and other interests. Proper diet, sleep and recovery will help you achieve your best performances. As we move into the annual flu season – particularly with this year’s added threat of the H1N1 virus – it is important to take a few extra precautions to keep yourself healthy and “en forme”.

Here are some reminders:

• Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (younger children can sing “Happy Birthday” while they wash their hands!).
• Wash your hands before you begin training and before you leave the Dome.
• Stay at least two meters away from people who have flu-like symptoms.
• If you have cold or flu-like symptoms, stay home and recover!
• Carry hand sanitizer for use when soap and water are unavailable.
• Do not share things that go in your mouth.
• If you have to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with the inside of your elbow.

The Dôme at Louis Riel follows H1N1 prevention directives from the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario.
